“We’ve Got a Marketing Problem”

Amy Butler

The Rev. Dr. Amy Butler, author, activist, and former Senior Minister of the Riverside Church in New York City, preaches a sermon from the Gospel lesson for this Sunday from Mark 8:31-38. She begins: “You may have noticed that it’s Girl Scout Cookie season.” Little girls in uniform, selling mouthwatering cookies door-to-door? How can anyone resist? Girl Scout Cookies practically sell themselves. But what do you do with a marketing slogan like, “Take up your cross and follow me”?
