B48.2: The Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost, Year B (2018)

Ginger Gaines-Cirelli

In today’s sermon, Ginger Gaines-Cirelli, Senior Pastor of the historic Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC, preaches on Mark 10:35-45. She says, “What Jesus teaches challenges anyone with privilege, anyone who has power over anyone else.” She reminds us that we all have power. We have power over how we interact with others. Position itself is not bad, but it is how we use the power associated with that position that is important. Listen as Gaines-Cirelli teaches us how to use our power to bring glory to God and not ourselves.
