Ryan Ahlgrim, Pastor of First Mennonite Church in Richmond, Virginia, preaches the story of the Syrophoenician Woman from Mark 7:24-37. He begins by asking, “Is it hard for you to change your mind? Did you know that Jesus changed his mind?” The woman in today’s passage, a Gentile woman no less, reminds Jesus that her daughter may not be a child of Israel, but she is nonetheless a “daughter of the household of humanity.” Due to her persistence and lack of fear, “Even Jesus Changes His Mind.”
