A45: The Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, Year A (World Communion)

Steve Eason

Dr. Steve Eason, former pastor of Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC, sets aside the lectionary readings for the day in order to preach a sermon for World Communion Sunday called, “A Table with 7,417,622,501 Seats” (yes, that’s how many people there are in the world). If you need a text to go with it, Steve suggests Matthew 26:26-29, but mostly he wants you to know that every one of those seven billion plus people is part of the family of God. What a good thing to remember on World Communion Sunday!
