Tubbs takes on the story of the rich man and Lazarus from Luke 16. “If we take this story too literally,” says Tubbs, “mapping out the geography of the afterlife with GPS, we might miss the whole point.” He goes on to say: “Today’s parable isn’t a scare tactic. It’s an invitation to live in God’s upside-down kingdom where the last are first and the gates are always swinging open wide.”
Rev. Kyle Tubbs serves as the state coordinator for the Cooperating Baptist Fellowship of Oklahoma. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, and a master of divinity from Logsdon Seminary. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Dallas Baptist University.
