“Just Show Up” (C33: Proper 10)

Rev. Caroline Smith

Amos 7:7-17 and Psalm 82; Deuteronomy 30:9-14 and Psalm 25:1-10; Colossians 1:1-14; Luke 10:25-37

Smith explores the story of the Good Samaritan and says: “It’s not about defining the limits of love. It’s about expanding our capacity to live it.” That’s why the parable is so dangerous, says Smith: It calls not for belief, but for movement and action. “What if theology starts not with a creed, but with crossing the road?”

Rev. Caroline Smith serves as senior pastor of Parkway Baptist Church in John’s Creek, Georgia. She received a bachelor’s degree in religion from Baylor University, a master of divinity from George W. Truett Theological Seminary, a master of social work from Baylor University, and is working on a doctorate in preaching from Baylor University.
