C26: Trinity Sunday, Year C (2016)

Jim Somerville

“Is your understanding of God true or false?…Is your conception of God radically true? Is the [tree] trunk straight, the limbs strong, the branches full of good fruit? It’s a question I’d like every Christian to consider,” begins Jim Somerville, pastor of Richmond’s First Baptist Church and co-founder of A Sermon for Every Sunday. He continues, “How can we be absolutely, positively, one hundred percent certain that our conception of God is true and not false?…I think that’s the question that got Nicodemus out of bed in the middle of the night.” What can we learn from Nicodemus in John 3: 1-17? Listen as Somerville explains how we can be sure that our conception of God is true.
