“Brother from a Different Mother” (A14: Second Sunday in Lent)

Dr. Imad Enchassi

Genesis 12:1-4a; Psalm 121; Romans 4:1-5,13-17; John 3:1-17

Using trademark humor, Enchassi explores the story of Abraham and his centrality to Judaism, Christianity and Islam. “If you’re Jewish or you’re Christian,” says Enchassi, “please meet me — your Muslim brother. I am your brother from a different mother.” Enchassi goes on to emphasize Abraham’s role as the father of nations and as one who submitted to God’s will.

Dr. Imad Enchassi is senior imam at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. He is also chair of Islamic Studies, chaplain and professor at the Wimberly School of Religion at Oklahoma City University. He was the subject of Good Faith Media’s short documentary “Mercy” (https://vimeo.com/289731820), and he also appeared in Good Faith Media’s 2009 documentary “Different Books, Common Word” (https://vimeo.com/showcase/5175228).
