Carla Pratt Keyes, Pastor of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia, takes a look at this week’s Gospel lesson from John 18, in which Jesus is questioned by Pilate about his identity as a “king.” But the questioner becomes the questioned as Jesus turns the tables on Pilate and finds radically disarming ways to “speak truth to power.” Is Jesus a king? If he is, he is like no king Pilate has ever known. Is there something we can learn from him about helping those in power see things in a different, and better, way?
