“Promise me you will come back. Do you promise?” Father Michael Renninger, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia, heard this question each time he left one of his dear elderly congregants. This interaction reminded him of God’s promises to Sarah and Abraham in Genesis 17. Just like Abraham and Sarah, sometimes it is hard for us to see how God keeps God’s promises. But if we trust God, we can find great joy in God’s promises because a “promise made is a promise kept.”
