Carla Pratt Keyes, pastor of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia, begins today’s sermon a bit differently than most by inviting us to join her in a guided meditation. In today’s passage from Mark 8:27-9:9, Keyes invites us to think about Jesus’ journey as well. On Transfiguration Sunday, Jesus goes up the mountain. Jesus is human, but, in this moment, “it’s clear: he has access to a power from God.” Jesus brings this power down the mountain with him into the valley of his life and ours. Thanks be to God!
