C33: The Fifth Sunday after Pentecost, Year C (2016)

Michael Renninger

“It was his own dumb fault!” begins Father Michael Renninger, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia. “Everyone knew that the road from Jericho to Jerusalem was dangerous…but apparently this guy was by himself. He was asking for trouble…No wonder he got robbed. It was his own dumb fault!” This judgment from the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 is harsh. But how often do we pass judgment based on someone’s decisions today? Listen as Renninger explains what we can learn from putting ourselves in the shoes of the injured man. Will we help people, even if it was “their own dumb fault”?
