“Just Love the Hell Out of Everybody” (A34: Proper 11)

Rev. Travis Norvell

Isaiah 44:6-8; Psalm 86:11-17; Romans 8:12-25; Matthew 13:24-30,36-43

Norvell reflects on Jesus’ parable of the wheat and tares as less about farming than about resisting the urge to divide people into enemies and neighbors. Drawing on Twin Cities resistance to immigration raids, stories of compassion, and Fr. Charlie Strobel’s witness, Norvell argues that faithful living means refusing separation and choosing radical, life-preserving love.

Rev. Travis Norvell is pastor at Judson Memorial Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Marshall University and a master of divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School.
