“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (A20: Second Sunday of Easter)

Rev. Rob Shearer

Acts 2:14a,22-32; Psalm 16; 1 Peter 1:3-9; John 20:19-31

Shearer pulls from the story of Thomas to explore doubt, confidence, authority, right belief and more. “And I do wonder whether we might pivot that word ‘belief’ to trust,” says Shearer, “for belief is about the head — whereas trust is about our whole beings; bodies, minds and spirits.”

Rev. Rob Shearer is the regional minister for church planting with the Pacific Mountain Regional Council of The United Church of Canada. He is also a co-founder/planter of The Emmaus Community and The AbbeyChurch in Victoria, British Columbia. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto and master of arts in public and pastoral leadership from the Vancouver School of Theology.
