“Touching Jesus” (A06: Second Sunday After Christmas)

Rev. Dr. Major Treadway

Jeremiah 31:7-14 or Sirach 24:1-12; Psalm 147:12-20 or Wisdom of Solomon 10:15-21; Ephesians 1:3-14; John 1:(1-9), 10-18

Treadway focuses on the passage in John about the “Word becoming flesh,” and he asks what the implications of this incarnation are. “When we draw close enough to Jesus that we can touch him, and bold enough that we do,” says Treadway, “we learn something of this Word become flesh, human and divine, finite and eternal. And when we do, Jesus learns something of us too.”

Rev. Dr. Major Treadway is senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College, and a master of divinity and doctor of ministry from Duke Divinity School at Duke University.
