“Too Deep for Words” (C35: Proper 12)

Rev. Terri Byrd

Hosea 1:2-10 and Psalm 85; Genesis 18:20-32 and Psalm 138; Colossians 2:6-15, (16-19); Luke 11:1-13

Byrd explores the power of prayer, using as pretext a disciple’s request of Jesus to teach him how to pray (Luke 11:1-13). Byrd recounts her own journeys involving prayer, saying, “I find that my souls seeks the comforting presence of sacred love in the deep, raw spaces of this very human existence.”

Rev. Terri Byrd is mobilization pastor at Jones Creek Baptist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a master’s degree in theological studies from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. She previously served as coordinator of the Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
