B34: The Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, Year B (2015)

Andrew Foster Connors

Andrew Foster Connors, Pastor of Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland, preaches this week’s Gospel lesson: Mark 6:30-34, 53-56. “He had been a troublemaker all week,” Brown begins, talking about a boy on a Native American reservation where he and others had come to do mission work. And yet, when he asked for an extra sandwich to take home to his brother, what could they do? Compassion often moves us to action even when we don’t feel like it. Jesus is an excellent example.
